For Liberalism that is the Autonomous Individual

In theory. In practice liberals (at least the modern type of liberals) put a high value on social conformity. Paradoxically modern liberals believe that everybody should be compelled (by force if necessary) to be an Autonomous Individual whether they like it or not. And increasingly they seem to want to compel everybody to be exactly the same sort of Autonomous Individual.

Of course there are major differences between 19th century classical liberals and modern liberals.

They do this by providing interlocking fields of fire...in other words mutual support. This is the same thing that Liberals do, they provide each other with mutual support.

Liberals talk about autonomy but in practice they operate in a collectivist manner.

Interestingly, social conservatives believe in community but they generally find themselves operating as isolated individuals. When they take a stand they cannot rely on other social conservatives to support them.

Unlike us they are rarely blunt, instead they make everything that they propose seem nice and safe. They never talk about spreading degeneracy, instead they talk about love being love.

That's quite true. But to some extent that's also true about all modern politics. I've encountered hardcore right-wingers who like to talk about how glorious it would be if the welfare state could be eliminated. Everybody would become so wonderfully independent and self-reliant. They conveniently forget to mention that eliminating the welfare state would cause immense suffering as well.dfordoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02306293859869179118noreply@blogger.com
